In the well-known city of Portland, Oregon, an Assisted Living Center has recently undergone a significant upgrade to its structured cabling system through the expertise of an ICC Elite Installer. Project Overview
The project entailed a complete update of the center’s communication systems to bolster care services and operational efficiency. A crucial component of this upgrade was the installation of 20,000 feet of ICC’s Category 6 500 MHz UTP Solid Cable in yellow, which is essential for a robust and forward-compatible network.
Efficient Routing and Connectivity
For effective cable management, the installer implemented 400 ICC 2-inch wall mount J-Hooks. These J-Hooks, known for their durability and 50 lbs load capacity, were critical in supporting the new cabling infrastructure while maintaining the center’s clean and organized environment.
High-Quality ICC Components
A selection of ICC’s top-quality components was used in the installation:
- CAT 6 Modules: The network’s capacity for high-speed data transmission was ensured by the use of 4 packs of 25 yellow CAT 6 HD modules.
- Patch Panels: To manage cables efficiently, 20 units of 24-port and 5 units of 48-port HD blank patch panels were mounted. These 19″ wide patch panels provide an organized and accessible cable framework.
- J-Hooks: Supporting the cabling were 16 packs of 2-inch J-Hooks, chosen for their high load capacity and included retainers.
- Patch Cords: Connectivity was maintained with 20 packs of 1-foot yellow CAT 6 patch cords featuring clear boots, designed for low-profile and snag-free strain relief.
- Faceplates: The aesthetic integration of connectivity points was achieved with 2 packs each of one-gang, one-port, and two-port white faceplates, compatible with single gang outlets and CAT 6 HD and EZ modules.
- Bulk Cable: Central to the project was the use of 20 REELEX II cartons of CMP Plenum-rated CAT 6 500 UTP solid cable, ensuring both performance and safety compliance across the network.
