VA – A well know data management and analytical service company for governmental agencies, recently hired an ICC Elite Installer to update their network at their Chesapeake location in Virginia. The Elite Installer installed 154 data drops and pulled over 15,000 feet of ICC Category 5e Plenum rated premise cable throughout the research facility. They configured the outlets in the work areas with blue and orange Category 5e (CAT5e) modular keystone jacks. They chose to install EZ® style jacks into most of the outlets because the IDC on the rear is in-line. The wiring is pair-to-pair, there is no splitting and seating is easy. High Density (HD) style jacks were installed into black furniture faceplates because they help maximize port connectivity within the outlets. To reduce time terminating the jacks, the installer used the JackEasy tool. The tool can terminate all four pairs of wires at the same time with one squeeze. The Elite Installer chose to purchase ICC products in bulk value packs; such as the 48-Port CAT5e patch panels in 6-Pack to help lower material cost and improve profit margin. The carton is designed with a tab lock to be resealed. Any left-over products can be protected and stored for the next project. To route cables cost-effectively, J-Hooks were mounted on the walls and ceiling. In addition, 3-inch and 5-inch D-Rings made of die-cast aluminum were used to support cable runs along walls. After the installation had been finished, the Elite Installer emailed ICC the 15-year performance warranty registration form with their invoices to register the cabling system. ICC issued a proof-of-warranty certificate within 24 hours of submission.
